UrbanGypZ Artisan Yarn is a one woman cottage industry run by me, Stacey Budge-Kamison. I am master dyer, chief spinster, shipping maven, janitor, inventory specialist, and CEO.

For 20 years, I was an Art Director. I worked for craft book publisher, Lark Books. I used to knit and spin yarn to keep my creative sanity. Something that I only did for me. I learned to spin yarn to feed my knitting habit. Lark sent me to a dyeing workshop, and I found a new obsession with colors and textures. That turned into a side business. Now I am dying and spinning yarn full time. I love being a fiber artist. I would have never thought that this would be my medium. I figured it would be clay! I draw my inspiration for my funky textures and vibrant colors from my world around me. Sure maybe nature, but also that fabulous meal at the local Indian restaurant, or the graffiti in the alley. I also love finding soft and unusual texture to spin into my yarns. I only create with fiber I would want to spin and knit with myself. I do a lot of knitting with my own yarn (especially the hand spun) and love mixing yarns to create interesting garments.

I work out of my home studio in Asheville, NC which I share with my husband, 3 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 angora rabbits.
