Wash Day--Lot # 110908007: wash day sari yarn

The wash day yarn is the bulk weight sari silk yarn that has been washed before it is packaged for sale, giving it a fuzzier softer hand than most sari silk yarns. I get my yarn directly from the collective in Nepal so yarns come to me packaged in the batches that were spun all at once. You can almost see exactly where the yarn was cut from a larger skein. When it comes to me, I separate it into batches that have similar tones and colors. While I would recommend alternating yarns, the colors of the yarn are so varied, they really do work quite well together regardless of lots.

This listing if for one skein of recycled sari silk ribbon. The skein you recieve wil be similar to the skein pictures although it will not be exactly the same. Helping a Sister Out Sari Ribbon yarn is about 35-40 yards; there is considerable variation in yardage since the width and thickness of the ribbon vary and it is packaged by weight, not length. Sari ribbon is made by a women's collective in Nepal that collects sari silk scraps from textile factories and stitches the scraps together to form a long multi-colored ribbon. Each skein may include a variety of textures and colors. The edges of this ribbon are not finished and left frayed. The width of the ribbon varies considerably throughout the skein; on average it's about 7/8."
